Balancing Martha and Mary

Marie Bellet- She sings my life story.

Focusing on Dear Husband this month. Regroup, refresh, reconnect! Isn't is funny how God uses my dear, dear husband to teach me what I need to know about Him? In a recent conversation Michael was complaining that we do not have any quality time together. You know- couple time to reconnect and rekindle. Now the Martha in me is reminding him that we have a large family and a loaded schedule. This is just a time in our lives when our feet hit the pavement as soon as we wake up and it is nonstop all day. What do you mean you want to take a leisurely walk after dinner? No time for leisure.

But the Mary side whispers- come away to a desserted place. Put all the things of the world aside.

Be with me.

It isn't only DH who gets lost in the shuffle. It is prayer, it is peace, it is Christ. Unless the Lord builds the house, my efforts are in vain. So the focus must change. My priorities must be realigned. And the busy-ness of life will have to wait. Time for a walk and perhaps a holy hour with DH and my Lord. A time to be still and know that he is there.
