Can't You See The Sunshine?

Can't you just feel the moonshine?
Ain't is just like a friend of mine
To hit me from behind
Yes, James, I'm gone to Carolina in my Minivan...

You know it, we are outta here on Saturday.  Until the new pics arrive, I will leave you with memories from last year.

After a morning of rockin with your girlfriends
You might like to relax in the whilrpool .
Or perhaps you'd rather a natural stone shower.
Of course there is always to option to enjoy both...
Some even prefer to forego the bath,
for a leisurely dip in the lake.
And when the children are resting,
you could sneak away for an afternoon cruise,
Enjoy a bit of theater....
Or simply ride off into the sunset
And enjoy the view.
That's what I'm talking about!

Waldorf What?

When the link to Homeschooling on a Shoestring was published , there was some discussion about the overview of teaching styles. A friend of mine, who happens to be a very talented artist, was curious about the Waldorf Style. We hadn't heard of it before, at least not under this label. According to the post, it is a teaching style that integrates head, heart and hands. It involves art, faith and lots of hands on activities. Follow this link to Serendipity for free downloads of creative lesson plans and charming stories about fairies and gnomes that will make language arts and math the favorite subjects of the day. Since the author is all about keeping it Catholic, you will also find stories of the saints beautifully woven into the presentations. I imagine our summer will b...

It's A Boy!

And another boy! Double the blessing, and born on a special feast day as well! They look and sound more like the Sons of Thunder than Saints Peter and Paul- but the official names are Christopher Jax and Michael Gage. The proud parents are looking pretty good themselves, but I promised not to post their pics until they've had a good nights' sleep. Behold the Handiwork of God!

Reason # 5,078 to Homeschool

So your college aged student can handle her  Sophist - icated professor.   Dear Daughter is taking honors English at the local university and surprise- they are studying Greek Lit.   Suppose you are the college professor tasked with instructing students who actually want to study Odysseus, Sophocles and the philosophers of ancient Greece.  What will be the emphasis? Perhaps an analysis of  historical, oratorical and philosophical prose? Or shall they compare / contrast the dialects of the  Ionians , Aeolians, and  Dorians ?   Maybe they will contest the existence of the material world. No, no, no, my dear. The focal point of all discussion will be love. But not just any love.  Why waste time on   Agape, Philia, or Storge   when the professor is obsessed with Eros? Yes indeed, we shall listen to lectures that are an amalgamation of the following bibliography:  The Lesbian and Gay Studies Reader ,  Plato's Republi...
