National Shakespeare Competition
Each of the middle school and high school students spent a few weeks preparing a monologue for the National Shakespeare Competition. Although the middle schoolers were ineligible for the State competition, Maggie worked diligently with all of the kids in preparation. She also encouraged classmates to critically review each other's performances before the big day. Our local group was evaluated by an experienced, non partial panel of 3 judges from Wings Performing Arts Center. While the quality is not fabulous, I was able to capture part of each monologue on video with an iPhone. It was impressive to see how much the kids were able to learn in such a short time......

It was a first encounter with Shakespeare for some of the younger students, and a first competition of this nature for the high school kids. Here is a clip of the youngest participants:
