Need A Vacation

I totally need a snoozing on the beach vacation, to recuperate from our adventure in the Carolina mountains last week. But that is not in the budget. Instead, I will be washing clothes and cleaning house for the next 48 hours. Then onto a marathon of lesson planning for a co-op we joined in the Mississippi Bay area. As soon as I stop daydreaming about waterfalls and rock climbing , I should get to work.  I really should.  It was a real treat to have Matt and Jeni,  Mom, and Uncle Nick join us this year.  And it was especially nice for Dear Husband to get out of a high stress office for the week.  The teens loved playing bombardment, and catching up with their friends by the campfire. And the younger kids ate more than their fill of smores. Some things are worth the wait. And others...  Are worth the RUSH! Lesson plans. Right. G'bye.

Can't You See The Sunshine?

Can't you just feel the moonshine? Ain't is just like a friend of mine  To hit me from behind Yes, James,  I'm gone to Carolina in my Minivan... You know it, we are outta here on Saturday.  Until the new pics arrive, I will leave you with memories from last year. After a morning of rockin with your girlfriends You might like to relax in the whilrpool . Or perhaps you'd rather a natural stone shower. Of course there is always to option to enjoy both... Some even prefer to forego the bath, for a leisurely dip in the lake. And when the children are resting,  you could sneak away for an afternoon cruise, Enjoy a bit of theater.... Or simply ride off into the sunset And enjoy the view. That's what I'm talking about!

New Laptop

I know, I know, it has been ages since the last post. But my laptop crashed and the new ones are sooooo expensive. So I tried out this  new  "laptop" for the summer, and it has been amazing. Peaceful, contemplative, and relaxing.   Thought I might never blog again.  And disconnecting from the whole social media scene gave me an opportunity to reconnect with an old friend. "Art is the signature of man." GK GK has lots to say about my new hobby. Did you know that he attended Slade School of Art? That is a coincidence in more ways than one. There is no end to my fascination with that man. "Art, like morality, consists of drawing the line somewhere." GK "The average man cannot cut clay into the shape of a man; but he can cut earth into the shape of a garden; and though he arranges it with red geraniums and blue potatoes in alternate straight lines, he is still an artist; because he has chosen." GK He explains my desire for ord...

Late Nights and Long Summer Days

I knew I shouldn't have let the kids stay up so late last night. They've been walking around like Zombies all day. But no worries, I've been assured that the Zombie Apocalypse will be over by Monday evening thanks to " Hunter" and " Casings" , Zombie slayers . The make-up crew arrived early to begin the transformations- then voted unanimously to strike "a.m." from future schedules. I was relieved that the cast was satisfied with stacks of pancakes and pizza because we are fresh out of.... BRAINS! Summer antics have begun! Eutrapelia ?  Not yet. But we are working on it.

Ship Shape Field Trip

After two days of watching God water the lawn and garden, we needed to get out of the house (before the bouncy boys were grounded for life). Fortunately, it was Navy Week and the City of New Orleans hosted the event with the usual southern panache.  I called my Mom to see if she wanted to join her grand kids on an impromptu field trip to the city. KT agreed to join us so we met at her house in Mid-City. We splurged on day passes for the streetcar so we could listen to grandma reminisce about 7 cent fares and the days when it was safe for a young girl to travel the city streets alone. What would a couple of rough and tumble boys enjoy more than to tour the tall ships,  and handle some 1812 replica weaponry? (I don't think it was only the boys who enjoyed it...)  There were displays to enjoy while waiting in line for the tours  And a good bit of history to learn along the way.  All aboard! ...
